La UPC té registrades un total de 74 patents i, en l’últim any, ha creat i participa en un total de 25 empreses spin off. En aquesta línia de col·laboració amb les empreses, la UPC acaba de posar en marxa el Centre d’Innovació Tecnològica, per posar al servei de les empreses el potencial d’infraestructures i de coneixement científic i tecnològic de la Politècnica. La finalitat d’aquest ens és impulsar l’R+D+i a través de la transferència de l’activitat de recerca de la Universitat.
