UPC joins the CEI Network

UPC along with other universities awarded as Campus of International Excellence (CEI) in 2010, has signed its accession to the CEI network, which is made up by 23 projects. The agreement took place on November 11 in Madrid (Salón de Plenos del Consejo Escolar del Estado).

The event was chaired by the Minister of Education, Ángel Gabilondo, and included the interventions of the Universities secretary, Marius Rubiralta, the president of CRUE, Federico Gutiérrez, the president of the University Carlos III , Daniel Peña, and the rector of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Javier Uceda.

The project submitted by UPC "Campus Energia: Energy for excellence", was awarded the 2010 CEI qualification promoted by the Ministry of Education.

Campus Energia is a multi-campus project focused on the energy field to articulate the potential of the University in this area of knowledge carried out by several research groups from Barcelona, Castelldefels, Sant Cugat del Vallès and Terrassa.

In 2010, the UPC proposal to strengthen the Barcelona Knowledge Campus (BKC) together with the University of Barcelona was also funded with 2.2 million (BKC was ranked fisrt in the 2009 call)
