UPC, the first catalan university in the 4ICU ranking

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. BarcelonaTech (UPC) is the first university in Catalonia, the third in Spain and the 30th in Europe, according to the ranking produced by the 4 International Colleges and Universities (4ICU).

This australian company produces twice a year a global directory of higher education institutions and publishes a university ranking based on the popularity of their websites.

In the last edition, issued in January 2012, the UPC.BarcelonaTech has become the third spanish university best positioned, the first technical university in Spain, and the first best positioned university in Catalonia. UPC has substantially improved its results during the last semester and has ranked the 30th position among the European universities.

This ranking, which has analyzed 11,000 universities around the world, is headed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, by Cambridge University in Europe, and by the University of Granada in Spain.

The Rànquing 4ICU uses a single synthesis indicator, the "website popularity" which is calculated from an algorithm applied to the data mesurement. The data is obtained from three indicators: Google PageRank and Majestic Seo Referring Domains, which measure the popularity from the number of links, and Alexa Traffic Rank, based on webpage users and visits.
