UPC ecoRacing in the USA
May 02, 2012
The hybrid racing car will take part in the world engineering competition held in Boston from April 30th to May 3rd.
The car, named ecoR2, was unveiled in 2010 as the first hybrid racing car developed and built in Spain. The third evolution of this prototype has been recently presented. The singularity of this car, designed and manufactured by ecoRacing, is its powertrain, which combines a 22 CV internal combustion engine and a electric motor with 46 CV of peak power. The electric motor is powered by a pack of li-ion batteries together with a regenerative braking system. Team’s aim was to design an ecological alternative to the conventional petrol engine formula student cars. The result is car with a similar performance and a 50% cut in CO2 emissions.
Over 40 teams from all over the world will take part in the upcoming edition and UPC ecoRacing will defend its project and show its potential with the illusion of achieving a good result. The event will take place in the circuit New Hampshire Motor Speedway, between April 30th and May 3rd.
