UPC awarded the "Premi Ciutat de Sant Cugat 2010" for its project Campus Energia

UPCBarcelonaTech has received the prize "Ciutat de Sant Cugat 2010" awarded by the City Council, for its contribution to the transformation of the energy sector towards a more sustainable model, thanks to the project Campus Energia (recognised last year as Campus of International Excellence by the Spanish Ministry of Education).

The "Ciutat de Sant Cugat" awards distinguish persons, entities or companies that have stood out in the previous year. This year, the awards were presented in a Gala held on the Theatre-Auditorium on 6 March, attended by the Rector Antoni Giro. During the ceremony, the mayor of Sant Cugat, Mercè Conesa said that "This year, all the winners, each on its side, are examples of commitment with Sant Cugat. They enrich our identity as a town. "

Almost 2,000 citizens of Sant Cugat have proposed and supported a total of 87 nominations to be awarded with one of these Ciutat de Sant Cugat awards. The UPC has been selected from among 14 finalists.

The UPC has a strong presence in Sant Cugat, as it houses the School of Architecture (ETSAV), as well as several research centers linked to the university: the Centre for Research and Technology Transfer (CRITT), a place of reference on research and technology transfer in the field of architecture; the Center for Computer Applications in the Architectural and Urban Design (CAIRAT) and the Solar Research Center (CISOL), all of them based on ETSAV.

The "Ciutat de Sant Cugat" Awards are organized by the City Council with the sponsorship of Autocugat and Vodafone Foundation, and in collaboration with Cugat.cat (which broadcast the gala awards) and the journal Diari de Sant Cugat.
