The first recharging point that allows EV to return the energy to the grid
Jun 21, 2012
CITCEA and Endesa have presented for the first time in Europe, the first recharging point that allows dual directionality of the load, in other words that has the capacity to supply power to the electric vehicle and enable it to provide its energy to the grid. This represents an important step in the development of smart grid electricity in need for tools to optimize production and distribution, to better match supply and demand between producers and consumers of electricity.
The new recharging point features V2G (vehicle to grid) and V2H (vehicle to home) technology, so that the users can either choose between consuming electricity accumulated on their vehicle to circulate, power their home or even sell energy in excess to the electrical system. This innovative system has been developed by Endesa, in collaboration with the center CITCEA of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) and the Institute for Energy Research (IREC).
