iTesTiT Technology
May 24, 2011
Innovative system for wind power companies to save up to 15M € per year. This is the first system of failure prediction able to analyse all the performing variables from a wind turbine. The technology, named iTesTiT, is based on five patents and has led to a spin off.
Researchers from MCIA group (Terrassa) have developed a software (iTesTiT) able to predict, reliably, how, when and why the electric motor of a wind turbine could fail, and also its gears, the yaw system, the temperature controller, the lubricant, the connection protection device, the transformer, the gearbox, the wiring, the electrical protection of the mechanical, hydraulic or electronic components, and the whole electronic power system they work with. iTesTiT analyses each of the components of the device through the signal processing, pattern extraction and processing of data. With the final diagnosis that the system generates, engineers can predict the future behavior of a mechatronic system.
This system is more effective than those avaiblable currently in the market, which only analyse vibrations and currents. There is no system in the world like the one created by the MCIA research group capable of working with all the possible variables that take part in the good working order of a wind turbine.
