Group of Construction Research and Innovation (GRIC) UPC participates in the European project SEAM4US an intelligent system which is intended to measure, control and regulate the power consumption of a subway station to make it sustainable energy. As part of a pilot project is coordinated by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), the Paseo de Gracia station of Line 3 of the metro.
The main objective is to develop advanced technologies SEAM4US for optimal control of energy and can be scalable to all metro stations as it can mean a savings of 5% in electricity consumption, a figure equivalent to the electricity consumed more than 700 homes.
The Group of Construction Research and Innovation (UPC-GRIC) participates in the European project SEAM4US which aims at reducing the energy consumption of underground transportation systems via the development of advanced technologies for optimal and scalable control. The objective is to produce a 5% saving in non-traction electricity consumption in one year

The SEAM4US pilot is deployed in the metro station "Passeig de Gràcia" of metro line 3 of Barcelona. This station is highly frequented by passengers as it is an important hub with connections to two more lines well as regional trains. The deployment of sensor and actuator systems in the station allows the SEAM4US project to evaluate the performance of the approach based on the actual energy savings achieved. The deployed components can be grouped into two categories: monitoring and control.
