Oct 17, 2012

The first 10 students recruited by this Chinese university to take part in the three years tailored training programme have already arrived in Barcelona.

The engineers shortlisted in Beijing are enrolled in studies specialising in petroleum, geological, chemical, mechanical or electronic engineering. Here, they will attend for two years a master related to geological engineering and energy (Escola de Camins).

The training programme also offers an intensive course in Spanish and local culture in Barcelona. Tutors from both universities will provided support and counselling related to academic and administrative issues and will help them to adapt to the new environment. Every year, between 10 and 30 students from the China University of Petroleum (CUP) shall enrol this tailored training programme funded by the China National Petroleum Corporation, the Chinese state oil and gas company. After completing this course, graduates will have the opportunity to start their career path at the company’s headquarters in Bolivia and Peru.

This agreement is part of the Campus internationalization plan. The relationship with Chinese universities is a key issue which in recent years, has led to an increase in partnerships and exchange programmes, as well as to the set up a of a Sino-Spanish campus at Tongji University (in Shanghai), that hosts the BKCnet office in China within the framework of Barcelona Knowledg Campus, the other Campus of International Excellence promoted by UPC · BarcelonaTech.
