Public lighting with wind and solar energy

Researchers from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the firm Eolgreen have developed the first lighting system powered by wind and solar energy.

The system emits no CO2 and has been designed for interurban roads, highways, parks and gardens and other public environments after four years of research. One of the main benefits of this unique system is the cut by 20% of the lighting costs compared to conventional systems.

Eolgreen has signed agreements with the Port of Huelva and the city council of Sant Boi de Llobregat, Girona and of several towns from Andalucian. The firm plans to produce 700 units of these lights in 2015.
