Results of the SUMA crowfunding initiative

On 5th June, the UPC launched SUMA, the initiative that aims to expand and diversify the funding sources of innovative projects, as well as, to show the society the university commitment to scientific and technological development.

Once a total of 23 proposals have been short-listed, the microfunding campaign will commence next autumn in collaboration with GOTEO - it is expected to run between October 10 and November 19 (approx.). Goteo.org is the platform specialized in group funding and also the partner of the UPC on this project.

Some of the energy-related proposals to be submitted to Goteo.org are: a pilot plant for water purification using natural products; the Smart Moto Challenge, which aims to design and manufacture an electric bike; a project for biomass gasification to generate electric power; the project "from lab to market: Healthcare sector", which consists of three actions in the field of clean technology/energy; RESSÒ-UPC-ETSAV, which aims to make a prototype to rehabilitate existing urban fabric while saving energy; Catalunya's contribution to the global environmental impact due to heavy metals from electronic waste, and the Microscale 3D wind sensor network.
