ETSAV involved in a project of energy rehabilitation of comunities

May 25, 2015

Faculty and students of the Vallès School of Architecture (ETSAV), through PASaPAS platform and Urban Planning Workshop (PUD), in collaboration with the City of Sant Cugat del Vallès, have diagnosed the energy precariousness of Les Planes housing and are already working in six of them to introduce improvements.

The energy precariousness of Les Planes has been diagnosed thanks to a in-depth study of the neighborhood and its 399 homes. The analysis tackled aspects such as physical state, energy, social, medical and economic conditions (RELS methodology), and allowed to set an intervention order based on priority cases.

Interventions have focused on energy rehabilitation and habitability improvements through small actions such as thermal insulation in roofs, increasing passive solar catchment, air tightness woodwork, stale air extraction & control systems, recirculation of preheated air by a wood-burning fireplace and improving accessibility to terraces.
