Campus Energia presented in the Workshop Sino-Spanish Universities

UPC BarcelonaTech has been the venue of the 2nd Workshop Sino-Spanish Universities (11+5). At the meeting, representatives of 12 universities members of the consortium have analyzed the institutional collaboration in areas such as education, research and students & staff mobility.
The Rector, Mr. Antoni Giro, opened the seminar accompanied by Mr. Wang Zhiwei, responsible for educational affairs at the Embassy of China, and Mr. Xavier Testar, director of the Research and Innovation Programme at Barcelona City Council.
Vice-Chancellors and Directors of International Relations from the Chinese and Spanish universities conducted the workshop sessions. In the session focused on research, the Vice Chancellor for International Policy at UPC, Mr. Pedro Díez, pointed out the exceptional opportunities that international strategic projects such as the campus of international excellence and the KIC InnoEnergy provide.
The consortium consists of 11 technical universities from China plus the Universitat de Barcelona, Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the UPC BarcelonaTech. Launched in June 2009 in Beijing, the consortium has established a framework for multilateral cooperation among Spanish universities and the Asian giant.
Parallel to the workshop, UPC BarcelonaTech signed a formal cooperation agreement with the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). The agreement, ratified by the Rector, Mr. Antoni Giro, and the Vice Chancellor of BIT, Mr. Zhao Changlu, promotes cultural and academic exchanges and teaching and research collaborations between the two universities. In particular, it plans to facilitate the mobility of faculty and students, the joint research and the organization of conferences and seminars, among other activities.
