"La Caixa" to boost internationalization and talent attraction

The agreement establishes for this year a 640,000 euros investment from the Obra Social "la Caixa". These resources will contribute to strengthen the recruitment and talent retention policies.

The Fundació "la Caixa" and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPCBarcelonaTech) have signed an agreement to promote the internationalization of the university as well as, to attract and retain talent. This collaboration is part of the project UPC to attract talent (2010-2014), and it includes programs for Energy, Aeronautics and Interdisciplinary Center for Higher Education (CFIS).

The agreement also sets a collaboration to expand the training horizons students receive from UPC, and to foster intellectual exchange with faculty and researchers from around the world and thus, contribute to the recognition as a Campus of International Excellence.

This will be specified in the promotion of three programms under the project UPC to attract talent (2010-2014):

  • Energy program: KIC InnoEnergy and Campus of International Excellence (CEI) in Energy, which cover both the scientific training and technological innovation.
  • Aeronautics program, with the aim of promoting various lines of action to influence the trainig and talent retention in this strategic sector in Catalonia.
  • CFIS program (Interdisciplinary Centre for Higher Education), giving continuity to the current collaboration, which makes it possible for outstanding students to take a double degree at UPC. Students are selected in stages prior to college in order to promote the more talented and skilled to become leaders in several social and economic sectors.
