The International Commission confirms again the good progress of Energy Campus in the final evaluation of CEI projects

Between September and October 2015, the International Commission appointed by the Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte conducted the final evaluation process aimed at assessing the progress of the CEI 2010 projects on four areas:
  • 1. Academic improvement and adaptation to the EHEA
  • 2. Scientific improvement and knowledge transfer
  • 3. Transformation of the campus
  • 4. Interaction with the business environment and local area.

In general terms, the final report points out the convincing results to establish a globally recognized centre in education, research and innovation in the field of energy, the successful integration of the knowledge triangle and the established and well working cooperation with the public authorities, the business sector and research institutes.

The Commission also underlines the alignment with the structural funds (RIS3), the establishment of a comprehensive value chain that ranges from new courses in English, to Master Programs at the EU level and to industrial PhD, and the links with an ecosystem that is well embedded with industrial and public partners, research institutes and new business development.

According to the comments regarding the potential impact of the project, Energy Campus can become the focal point for Spain’s research and innovation in the field of energy; it can be in par with the best centres in Europe and worldwide and there is the potential to contribute to economic growth and employment the sector.

On the other hand, Energy Campus has secured funding for the next 2 years in the last CEI call. The project will receive more than 250K euros to develop actions aimed at consolidating excellence projects in the university related to joint doctorate and master’s programmes, collaboration networks, internships schemes or innovative teaching initiatives.
