New cluster to boost Mediterranean ecobuilding

The CPSV (Centro de Política del Suelo & Valoraciones-UPC), in collaboration with partners from France, Greece and Portugal, has developed a network of eco-design, construction and distribution of innovative energy-saving technologies, particularly as regards the use of water resources in the Mediterranean.

This cluster/network has been developed under the European research project InsMEd. The initiative aims at boosting innovation in the ecobuilding sector and disseminating innovative technologies in sustainable design, especially those linked to water management. In short, it tries to make more competitive euromediterranean companies working in this area in order to turn ecobuilding sector an emerging one. Also, it wants to raise the Public Administration and construction industry awarness to the need to apply these technologies.

The launch of the network will help to identify best practices in eco-design of buildings and roads and to warn about those technical and regulatory difficulties the construction sector finds when applying techniques to minimize environmental impact, and interrelate supply and demand.

The project results will be collected in a Green Book in order to guarantee a reduction in both the CO2 emissions and energy consumption in the building sector, which accounts for the 40% of the CO2 emissions.
