The President of the Catalan Government opened the new Diagonal-Besòs Campus

On September 14th, the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Carles Puigdemont; the Mayor of the City of Barcelona, Ada Colau; the Mayor of Sant Adrià del Besòs, Joan Callau; the President of the Diputació de Barcelona, Mercè Conesa, and the Rector of the UPC, Enric Fossas, opened the Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE) on the new Campus Diagonal-Besòs, who begins its voyage this 2016-2017 academic year as a new area of knowledge and innovation.

The Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE), with about 3,500 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree students and 400 professors and researchers, is the core of the new campus, and is located in an area of growth between Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs.

The aim of the EEBE is to be a high-quality school in the field of engineering for industry in the 21st century, acting as an agent of transformation in collaboration with the socio-economic fabric of Catalonia and with a strong international focus. The Diagonal Besòs Campus has a potential gross building area of 150,000 m2, of which 53,000 m2 has currently been built. The campus consists of three buildings dedicated to teaching and research.
