Two ETSEIAT alumni patent the sails of the ships of the future

Two engineers graduated from the School of Industrial and Aeronautic Engineering of Terrassa (ETSEIAT-UPC) have patented an innovative system based on rigid sails (similar to plane wings) to produce renewable energy for cargo ships.

The project, named bound4blue, is based on aeronautic technology applied to watercrafts. With this innovation, large ships will reduce fuel consumption and at the same time, produce and store energy in form of hydrogen or oxygen.
